Mission Control

story

Our YFC mission statement is: “Youth for Christ reaches young people everywhere, working together with the local church and other like-minded partners to raise up life-long followers of Jesus who are characterized by godliness in lifestyle, devotion to the Word of God and prayer, boldness in evangelism and commitment to social involvement.”

We are to raise up life-long followers of Jesus. I pray for it all the time. I pray that I can see a great transformation in the hearts of teens who have never known God. I am reminded that our mission doesn’t stop at conversion. We are raising up the next generation of Christ followers.

This is the mission that I have been given, and it is my heart that this next generation of followers are greater than the last. So we lay the foundation by teaching them the Word of God; an unmovable truth that we can build our lives on. We teach them to read the Word with humble hearts and submissive minds; for we cannot change the Word of God, but it is here to change us. We set the cornerstone that is Jesus Christ to always remind us that it is by His grace alone that we are saved through his life, death and resurrection.

It is out of God’s grace that we work to serve teens through the power of the Holy Spirit. We desire for students to have an unmovable faith, that trusts in the Word of God, and is compelled by God’s great Grace and put into action. We want them to be doers not just consumers of the Word.

These things are always on my mind when I plan the lessons for Campus Life and our Core group, as well as one-on-one meetings with students or when walking into the school lunch room. -Jeremy Basinger, Bluffton High School Campus Life
