What a Legacy

YFC Established in 1958 -Gary Lee, Findlay City Life

I walked up the sidewalk to our office, I glanced at the sign we have identifying the property as for Youth for Christ Northwest Ohio. On that sign along with our name and address is also the year that YFC was established -1958. For me that means YFC in this area began two years before I was born. For a sixth grader attending YFC for the very first time in 2023 it would mean YFC began 55 years before they were born. How many lives have been touched listening to a YFC leader sharing the message of Jesus’ saving grace – what a legacy!

As I continue walking toward the YFC office door, other thoughts my life and legacy. I just became a grandpa (again) to a baby girl from my son, Josh and his wife, Deb. This makes the fifth grandchild for Anne and I. When you begin to have grandchildren the idea of a legacy becomes more real because you realize that you’re continuing new generations beyond your own children, and Anne I pray that we have instilled the saving grace only found through Jesus Christ to our children, and that we can continue to have an impact on our grandchildren in the same way leaving a legacy of believers following Christ.

The next thing to pass through my mind as I walked past the YFC sign, was thinking about a conversation I had with a person who was almost been there from the beginning of the YFC Legacy. He has been on our YFC board and personally supported YFC for many years. This person like each of you is contributing to the YFC legacy of reaching lost teens for Jesus.

How many 1000 of teens have been touched for Jesus because of this ministry, how many more will be touched as the legacy continues on. You can pat yourself just a little on the back right now for being a part of it all, and please receive a personal thank from me the other staff, board members and volunteers of YFC. Just as the legacy of my family will continue after I am gone so will YFC. You are probably already giving to YFC if you are getting this newsletter, thank you! But as you think about this legacy you are a part of now and in the future, would you like to increase you donation or if you ever want to do something for YFC in a will or through a foundation that will continue the legacy now or beyond your years here on this earth please contact us.

To end I hope you only patted yourself on the back just a little because what we have is given by the Lord to us as a blessing to bring us and others closer to Him.

It is all about Him and not us. 1 Chronicles 29: 22,13 12 Both riches and honor come from You, And You reign over all. In Your hand is power and might; In Your hand it is to make great And to give strength to all. 13 Now therefore, our God, We thank You And praise Your glorious name. 14 But who am I, and who are my people, That we should be able to offer so willingly as this? For all things come from You, And of Your own we have given You.
