Myles Moore, YFC Youth Guidance student through 1989-1995

Things could’ve been much different for me.

I believe that God puts certain people in your life when you need them. For me, Gary Lee and Paul Miserlian were those people which God sent to me.

Growing up, my home life was chaotic;, my brothers were into drugs and alcohol, and my mother was a very permissive parent.  I remember Gary asking me on my front porch if I wanted to come to Youth Guidance when I was 12 years old. It sounded like fun, so I went.

I enjoyed learning about Jesus and was saved at YFC Camp a little over a year later. Little did I know then that my world would be shattered a few years later, when my mom passed away leaving me an orphan.

Through the rough times, my constant was Youth for Christ, Gary Lee, and Paul Miserlian. They cared about me and showed me God’s love when I thought there was no one left who cared about me. They helped keep me away from drugs and alcohol and were my mentors when I didn’t know what direction to turn.

Youth for Christ became like family to me. Alice, Lyn, Vic, and Rick all played a part. We talked, we laughed, and they showed me a tangible representation of God’s love. As I said, things could’ve been different for me. Instead, I became the first in my family to go to college. Then I went on for my Masters.

I am now a school psychologist, trying to give back as Gary and Paul taught me. I donate to YFC because I believe in them and it is because of them that I believe in God. Thank you, Gary, and thank you Lord for putting Youth for Christ in my life.
