Ready to Grow -Gwen Sprague, Ministry Director

The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life’s worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature. But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop. Luke 8:14-15

Every year when we go to YFC Camp, students are asked to leave their electronics at home. At the end of the week students almost always comment on how they had a better time because they weren’t distracted by their phones and especially social media. We LOVE the week that we get to spend with students at camp (despite the exhaustion from out of the ordinary physical activities and the lack of sleep) because the seeds of the gospel aren’t being “choked by life’s worries, riches and pleasures.” In everyday life our students are surrounded by the “rocky soil; and “thorns” of culture that make it difficult for the gospel to pierce their heart. At camp, multiple times a day, students are hearing the Word of God, seeing godly relationships lived out among the leaders, and exemplifying the gospel through skits, testimonies and games. The Lord blesses us each day at camp with opportunities for students to “hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.”

We saw one student grow by overcoming fears; another student grew by talking through major hurt in her life. We saw many students grow by finding a desire to study the Bible and get to know God on a deeper level. We are so excited to share that all of these students mentioned have been attending weekly small group Bible studies since camp and have been bringing their friends along with them!

Please join us in pray for these seeds to be protected and grow into lifelong followers of Jesus! But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen. 2 Peter 3:18
